Ash Tree Infestation
THE EMERALD ASH BORER has now killed more than eight million ash trees in the GTA to date, thereby destroying neighborhood greenways, stretching landowner and municipal forestry budgets to the limit, and creating an overwhelming demand for adequate disposal facilities. As a result, Permits are not needed to dispose of infected trees. L&J Labour can identify infected trees, dispose of infected and damaged trees on the owners behalf. Here are some facts you should know about.
- Due to the emerald ash borer quarantine, ash wood may only be disposed of at authorized disposal sites
- Ash-tree firewood and wood debris cannot be transported out of the emerald ash borer quarantine area established by the Ontario Department of Agriculture
- Property owners may want to explore alternatives for the use of dead and dying ash trees, as well as other trees. Many insurance companies will not cover damage from these trees.
